In 2023, the Harvest Profit team began offering a premium onboarding package. This optional $5,000 service is designed to help customers start using the software with ease and confidence.
Though your customers are welcome to purchase our onboarding service, we encourage your dealership to create your own offerings.
To support you in customizing your dealership's approach to sell and support Harvest Profit, we're sharing how we've done it. Please take the following information as a template for your team to adapt and build on.
We have structured the program to be centered around three meetings:
Winter Meeting
- New Crop Rotation Setup
- Setting up the Operations Center Integration
- Matching Fields Between Harvest Profit and Operations Center
- Importing Operations Center Products
- Crop Template/budget Setup
- Yield Estimates
- Land Costs

Summer Meeting
- As-Applied Data Import From Opcenter
- Make Crop Budget / Plan Adjustments
- Analyze and make estimated yield adjustments
- Setup Crop Rotation, Plan and Budget Setup for following years
Post Harvest Meeting
- As-Applied Data Import From John Deere Operations Center
- Yield Data Import From John Deere Operations Center
- Generate and Review Reports (P&L, Input Usage, etc)
Here are key takeaways from our onboarding plans and dealers offering value-added service offerings.
- The importance of scheduled meetings. If you don't schedule meetings, it's easy for the setup work to get continually postponed.
- Ensure that the farmer comes to the initial meeting with the necessary data to get their account set up. If they don't have the initial data, the meeting can easily turn into a data gathering session without actually getting material traction with the account setup process.
- Accountability is key to customer success. Harvest Profit users need someone to keep them accountable with their data entry.
This checklist can be used to ensure new Harvest Profit customers come prepared for the first meeting as part of their value added services package:
- Access to your Operation Center - Use this document to add us to your account (Adding Harvest Profit Support to Ops Center as a Partner)
- List of Seed, Chemical, and Fertilizer costs. If you have multiple purchases, we can find a weighted average cost using Harvest Profit.
- Last years P&L from your current accounting process.(if you're comfortable sharing). If you have fuel, equipment, and any other costs, it may help us be more familiar with your operation.
- Crop Plan For current and next crop year
- Preferred Payment Method
- History of the Farm
Items to have prepared before meeting if available:
- Plans for field applications for seed, chemical, fertilizer (If they have general lists of products and rates, that is okay.)
- List of current crop year contracts
- List of Insurance prices for fields
Additional Questions:
- How many different landlord agreements do you have and what type are they? (50/50, 60/40, etc).
- How many entities are involved on the farm?
- Do you currently track the P&L of them individually?
- How do you currently handle inventory?
- Do you track custom farming as "off the farm" revenue or is it included
- Do you have any non-John Deere connected machinery?
